On the 3rd of June, in Ljubljana, started the 15th Congress of the European Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (EVECCS) that attracted a record number of delegates. Scientific sessions, workshops and poster sessions were presented by more than 20 distinguished speakers from Europe and the United States.
After Lyon in 2015, the EVECCS Congress moved to Ljubljana, Slovenia. Grand Hotel Union, as the largest congress hotel in the city centre and a hotel with a 110 year-old history of hosting eminent events, was selected as the main congress venue.
Marko Pipan, chair of the Local Organizing Committee, addressed the delegates that came to Ljubljana from all over the world: “We will do our best to make you feel welcome in the city of Ljubljana, and enjoy our diverse educational programme and unique social events surrounded by the beauty of Slovenia and kindness of Slovenian people… enough, at least, to make your trip worthwhile and leave you with a desire for more!”

This year for the first time the congress was a joint effort of EVECCS and ECVECC, the European College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. The 3-day scientific meeting started with the pre-congress day dedicated to “Endocrine disorders in your ER”, while the main congress focused on “Trauma – what have we learned in the last decade”. As usual a fantastic social program was organized that included a welcome reception at Tivoli Castle, the Royal Canin young vets dinner, the Gala Dinner at Ljubljana Castle and after gala party. To make sure the delegates experienced Ljubljana at its best, a walking tour around the city was organized.
Like a perfect host, Grand Hotel Union on the last day invited guests to a farewell drink where they shared their congress experience with the organizers, lecturers, exhibitors and friends before returning back home.
