Lisa Svetina, Event manager at Lakeside Park
Lakeside Park is a science and technogly park. More than 60 regional and international enterprises around information and communication technologies (ICT) have settled in the Lakeside Park, as did three research centers. One third of the tenants belong to a larger company network. The majority is made up of small and medium-sized companies.
The park is a platform for collaboration between enterprises and university institutes in the area of ICT.
The Lakeside Science & Technology Park is located just a few hundred meters away from Lake Wörthersee in direct proximity to the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt.
Lakeside Park has been established in 2005 and expanded in 2015 with the opening of two new buildings B11 and B12 which perfectly aligned with the celebration of our 10 year anniversary. In building B11 you can find our seminar and event area »Lakeside Spitz« with six flexible air-conditioned rooms with high-quality technical equipment and variable sizes between 30 and 420 square meters for up to 400 persons.
The campus provides a Mediterranean, open feeling of life. It is directly adjacent to the »Natura 2000« premises. With a water landscape, sports facility, street basketball court and running track, it is a place to work, do sports, and recuperate at the same time.
This public area is open for everybody. Guest of “Lakeside Spitz” are enjoying their breaks ouside to get some fresh air and relax a little.
AN INNOVATING AND INSPIRING ENVIRONMENT
Q: You work with hi-tech start-up companies in Carinthia: What advantages does Klagenfurt have for meetings?
Klagenfurt has a nice open spirit with all possibilities you can imagine. It is not just about the meetings, you can always go outside, have a breath of fresh air, walk a little and then go back to work.
Q: How would you define the difference between an “event” and an “experience”?
An event is more strict. Being at the Lakeside Park and the seminar and event area Lakeside Spitz is an experience, you can go outside, go for a walk, watch the children play and in your breaks. Everywhere you go, you can feel the spirit of Lakeside Park, the dynamic, innovative and inspiring environment.
Q: What’s your top tip for event planning?
Develope a game plan, be open for changes and realize it with enthusiasm.
Q: How do you position yourself as a new event and meeting destination?
The innovative and inspiring environment at Lakeside Park forms the ideal framework for congresses, conventions, workshops, meetings and celebrations. We offer a total of six flexible air-conditioned rooms with high-quality technical equipment and variable sizes between 30 and 420 square meters for up to 400 persons.
A media room on the latest technical state of the art invites visitors to look at individual information about the park, the enterprises, or scientific contributions.
All rooms can be rented for half or full days Monday till Sunday and booked online. Our catering service offers a rich culinary selection to match the purpose and size of the event.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being an event planner?
I am really into realizing ideas and plans, being in contact with people and seeing them being happy with the outcome. It´s a great feeling being a part of an event, no matter if it is a training course, an exhibition or a anniversary celebration.
When I came here I started with the »Long Night of Research«, which is held every other year in cooperation with the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt, offering many interesting interactive experiments, informative lectures and direct contact with researchers. The offering is suitable for all ages and provides insight into the everyday work of scientists – from basic research to specific application of scientific experiments. On 22 April 2016, more than 8,000 visitors were interested in the world of science at more than 84 stations.
Q: What has been your most memorable event and why?
My most memorable event at Lakeside Spitz has been our annual event in cooperation with the Universitätskulturzentrum Unikum in 2015. Last year they had the idea to perform on the rooftop of bulding B11 and the huge balcony inside. It was a great scenery with the sunset and the choir performing on this impressive building.
