Sydney’s new harbour travel options great news for business event delegates

“The route offers the best of Sydney”

Imagine being able to take a ferry right to the doorstep of the venue for your next international conference. A new Sydney Harbour route increases options for international business events delegates meeting in Sydney, providing improved connectivity between major city commuter destinations.

Last week, Business Events Sydney (BESydney) Chief Executive, Lyn Lewis-Smith, officially launched SeaLink Travel Group’s, twin passenger catamarans, “MV Blackwattle Bay and MV Cockle Bay”. The $2 million catamarans are the first of their kind to join the Captain Cook Cruises Sydney Harbour fleet.

The boats will run regular transport services between Darling Harbour and Circular Quay for conference delegates attending the new International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney).

Ms Lyn Lewis-Smith said the new twin catamarans are great win for international business delegates providing them with a unique way to navigate around the city.

“Congratulations to BESydney’s partner, Captain Cook Cruises on a dedicated Sydney ferry route for conference delegates. I was honoured to take part in the launch of the two new vessels that will make our city even more accessible for visitors and locals alike,” said Ms Lewis-Smith.

“The route offers the best of Sydney – views of the stunning Sydney Harbour, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House coupled with the convenience of point-to-point transportation between the heart of Circular Quay and Sydney’s rejuvenated business events district,” she added.

MV Blackwattle Bay and MV Cockle Bay each have the capacity to carry 60 passengers. They are low wash and like the rest of the fleet are fuel efficient, eco-friendly, and equipped with the latest technologies to reduce their carbon footprint.

According to Managing Director, SeaLink Travel Group, Jeff Ellison “MV Blackwattle Bay and MV Cockle Bay will offer a welcomed solution, opening new inner city routes and offering regular high speed travel to commuters. The cute twin boats will also operate services for Captain Cook’s Hop On Hop Off, White Bay ferry service.”
