These include the Australian High Commission’s Australia Day Reception 2017, 5th International Secondary Lead Conference 2017, 17th Asian Battery Conference 2017, Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC) Networking Cocktail Reception and The University of Melbourne’s Malaysia Regional Office pre-departure briefing. Last year, the Centre also hosted the Australian Business Asia Conference 2016 and Australia Day Reception 2016.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) 2017, the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor shared, “This is our 11th consecutive year participating at Asia Pacific’s premier tradeshow for the meetings and events industry. We have always enjoyed a warm relationship with Australia-linked clients and AIME provides the perfect platform for us to expand and strengthen these relationships through various activities, including client engagement, knowledge sharing and networking with industry stakeholders. It is also the ideal stage for us to showcase our flexible, innovative, value-add and customised solutions, as well as Malaysia’s multi-cultural diversity and attractive business events proposition, directly to Australia-based clients.”

“The Centre is part of the AEG Ogden group of convention centres, which is well represented by world-class venues in Australia and we have long-standing relationships with the Australian High Commission Malaysia, Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC) and Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA). These connections give us a more in-depth understanding of the Australian market, which allow our team to tailor offerings to better meet the needs of Australia-based clients and Malaysia-based Australian companies,” Pryor added.

At a recent client site inspection to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Roslyn McLeod, the Managing Director of Arinex Pty Ltd, shared the following feedback “I have visited the the Centre many times and experienced it operating for conferences of different sizes and demands. This site inspection gave me a refreshed view of the Centre, its Team, how it is evolving and the range of benefits both the Centre and KL offer to Australian conferences. I give the Centre top marks for its attention to detail, going above and beyond to please and demonstrating not only how much Malaysians care about welcoming Australian conferences but also how well they can perform.”

Looking ahead, the Centre’s expansion continues to progress and is due to be completed in mid-2019. The extension will provide an additional 10,000 sqm of flexible and multi-purpose space, which means more room to comfortably accommodate larger exhibitions and international association meetings, as well as concurrent events, and the opportunity for many current clients to grow their activities and/or events significantly. The mixed-use commercial development will enhance the Centre’s existing world-class infrastructure, grow Kuala Lumpur’s reputation as a premier business events destination and help attract more international events to Malaysia.
