Marking the tourist offer in the city of Ljubljana has been performed every two years for the last 16 years, by a »secret guest« method. First part of the project consists of rating the restaurants, bars and coffee shops in Ljubljana and Region of Central Slovenia and the second part consists of rating shops in Ljubljana Old Town.

The expert commission assesses the providers according to carefully prepared criteria that are divided into four parts: quality of the offerings, quality of services, tidiness of the premises and the price-quality ratio.

As Ljubljana Tourism announced, the purpose of the LQ project is not a competition, but ensuring high quality offer and service in a certain destination, which is of high importance not only for the townspeople, but also for foreign and domestic visitors.

In year 2016, 89 restaurants and 10 coffee shops were evaluated, of those ones 68 restaurants and 10 coffee shops are located in Ljubljana and 21 restaurants in the Region of Central Slovenia. To top it on, 200 shops in Ljubljana Old Town were evaluated.

Event for the prize winners was held on Thursday, 2.2.2017, in a unique venue, Ljubljana Castle, ideal for business gatherings and social functions alike.

The purpose of the LQ project is not a competition, but ensuring high quality offer and service in a certain destination, which is of high importance not only for the townspeople, but also for foreign and domestic visitors.

Commission of LQ has noticed, that the quality of restaurants has risen over the years. To make an example: in 2014 at least 90 points were received by three restaurants, in this year there were six of them. Over 80 points was received by 10 restaurants in 2014, this year there were 23 altogether.
Ljubljana Quality Mark 2017 was received by 30 restaurants from the Municipality of Ljubljana and three restaurants from other municipalities in the Region of Central Slovenia, who gained more than 75 points.

Not to mention – the commission did not overlook the shops with local products, since domestic and foreign guests enquire exactly those products. From 41 shops, who received Ljubljana Quality 2017 Mark, 35 of them offer products of Slovenian origin.
