Alessandra Albarelli has been appointed the new President of Federcongressi&eventi, the Italian association of meetings industry companies and professionals. She was appointed by the members meeting in the Riva del Garda Conference Centre for the association’s tenth national convention, held from 23 to 25 March.

Alessandra Albarelli, born in Correggio-Reggio Emilia in 1971, succeeds Mario Buscema, who having served two consecutive terms as president, was no longer eligible for the post under the terms of the Articles of Association.

Alessandra is highly experienced in the area of destination and conference centre marketing: from 1998 to 2010, she was director of the Verona Tuttintorno consortium, of which she was also a founding partner, and from 2012, she has been Congress Manager at exhibition and conference centre group Riva del Garda Fierecongressi. Alessandra, who is also Project Manager of the Trentino Convention Bureau and the Riva del Garda MICE Product Club, was Representative of the Destinations and Venues category in the previous Federcongressi&eventi Executive Committee.

In the document outlining her planned strategy, the new President announced continuity with the presidency of Mario Buscema, and said that she would focus her efforts on “Strengthening the representation of the meetings industry in dealings with institutional partners, and developing structured training programmes for all member categories. It must be a contemporary association, capable of undertaking activities that meet today’s requirements. The ideas and experiences contributed by the new members of the Executive Committee will be fundamental in identifying the activities to be given priority, although the projects already launched, such as the Italian Conferences and Events Survey (OICE) and Food for Good, the project to recover uneaten food from events, will of course be continued”.
