Ljubljana has been recognized as a city with a lively street food scene in the recent years and new, emerging festivals are the best way to prove that. First Slovenia food truck festival is a part of Festival of Urban Culture and is coming up on 30th of June and 1st of July. The gastronomic event will gather best street food providers from Slovenia and the region at the Congress Square.
You will find something for every taste: burger lovers, vegan and vegetarian fans, beer and wine enthusiasts, Slovenian typical national dish admirers and even if you don’t really want to eat, you will still be able to enjoy the music that will enrich the festival.
Food truck festivals are popular in America, where the trend of dining out at alternate dining option – food trucks – brought such events already in 2011. Of course Europe might not yet rival Asia or USA when it comes to street food, but we are slowly getting there. The biggest food truck festival in Europe is in Brussels and last year it hosted 140 traders. The most known street food event in Ljubljana happens every Friday from March to October at Odprta kuhna.
