DID YOU KNOW?
The oldest foreign wine ever evaluated in Ljubljana was a Spanish wine from 1885. It was sent to the Ljubljana competition in 1969.

In recent years, Slovenian winemakers have recorded great worldwide success, winning some major champion titles, proving that they are one of the leading protagonists of the entire world wine industry. An increased promotion of their high-quality wines together with the promotion of Slovenia as a culinary and wine destination definitely helped, but the fact is, Slovenia is offering truly diverse and excellent wine and culinary offer in such a small area. And everybody who ever tried Slovenian wine, together with superb Slovenian cuisine, can confirm that. Oh, and let’s not forget – the Slovenian Chef Ana Roš was named as The World’s Best Female Chef Award by the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants culinary portal.

DID YOU KNOW?
The roots of wine competitions in Ljubljana go back to 1811, when the first “Tasting of Illyrian Wines” took place.

About the competetion:

Vino Ljubljana follows OIV rules and absolute anonymity of individual samples is guaranteed. The samples are evaluated by worldly renowned tasters, with the most advanced technical procedures. The 100-point method proposed by OIV and UIE (International Association of Oenologists) was upgraded with descriptive assessments of all wine parameters (by profiling individual wine parameters and aroma descriptors), for which special computer software is used. Tasters are obliged to carry out all three phases of evaluation.
