General Manager of Union Hotels group

Tomislav Čeh is the General Manager of Union Hotels group, where, to a certain extent, he is the leader motivating his managers and charming the guests – but when the schmoozing is over, it is up to him to make sure the business is profitable and growing. His area of specialisation is in crisis management. Prior to joining Union Hotels, he worked at various companies, where he successfully completed restructuring projects.


Q: What do you love about your job the most?

The daily challenges that come with being a manager, especially in the hospitality industry.

Q: Where do you see the biggest opportunity in marketing and MICE industry?

Through collaboration of various partners and investments in promotion, I believe Slovenia can have a great potential for hosting incentives from the US market. When everyone in the country cooperates with one another, this results in a larger number of quality MICE events.

Q: How do you deal with marketing jungle on daily basis?

Everything is a matter of being organised, of using persistence and enthusiasm to look at a multitude of offered fruits and carefully choose the ones that give you the energy for achieving life and business goals.

Q: How did the best events you attended so far make you feel?

They made me smile, refreshed me and changed me. For instance, last year’s MPI event in Copenhagen impressed us so much that we set up a completely new meeting concept at Hotel Lev after returning to Slovenia. This is how our completely refurbished Karantanija Hall with state of the-art equipment came to life.


Q: Looking at your bucket list, what is the one thing that you really wish to cross off until the end of 2017?

I would like to experience the beginning of extensive renovations at Central Hotel, Grand Hotel Union and Hotel Lev.

Q: If you could have dinner with anyone (alive or dead), who would you have dinner with and why?

I would wish to have dinner with my grandfather, whom I unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet.


Q: What would you share with our participants if you would have only one minute?

Be positive, love your life and the work you do.
