Today, on Thursday, 14 September 2017 everyone interested in Cankarjev dom’s rich and diverse programme as well as its architecture – an amazing building located in the centre of Ljubljana, Slovenian capital, shouldn’t miss the opportunity to find out everything and more about the legendary centre that presents, produces, organises and provides cultural and artistic, congress and other events, state ceremonies, exhibitions and festivals. Throughout the year, Cankarjev dom hosts more than 2000 events, spanning the whole gamut of artistic genres, from music, theatre, dance, film, visual arts, literature, humanities and culture education. The “open-door” event will reveal the highlights of the forthcoming season and the magic behind the making of great stories, either cultural or congress since CD also incorporates the central Slovenian convention centre with the highest number of international congresses.

Starting at 10am on 14 September 2017, the Cultural and Congress Centre will welcome everyone interested in its rich history and the beauty behind this majestic building and a world-class arts and convention centre. The Open-door day will offer all events free of charge, guided tours conducted in Slovenian (English tours by appointment), children’s origami and fan-making workshops at the CD Park, an announcement of CD’s 2017/18 Season by the Culture and the Arts Programme Directors, a backstage tour, guided tours of CD premises and Gallus Hall organ demonstration, a guided tour of beehives on the roof of CD and the honey plant garden in the Council of Europe Park, and much more. Topped with two great events: the music and theatre show Tesla performed by Janez Dovč, one of CD’s greatest successes of the past season, and a screening of Portrait of a Free Man, a film about Boris Pahor, followed by a talk with this prominent Slovenian author.

The “open-door day” aims to bring people together, leaving a positive impact on the capital’s social life and creating a successful future for CD.
