Messehalle-12

Messe Frankfurt – the world’s largest trade fair, congress and event organiser with its own exhibition grounds – celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new Hall 12 earlier today together with construction workers and trade fair employees.

Less than a year since the foundation stone was laid in October 2016, an important milestone has been reached for the new building in the southwest of the exhibition grounds. So far, some 125,000 cubic metres of earth have been moved, 60,000 cubic metres of concrete and 13,000 tonnes of steel included in the construction, and 11,500 ready-made components mounted in the complex. The current construction site team consists of around 600 people.

At the topping-out ceremony, Uwe Behm, member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, took the opportunity to praise the sterling work of the construction workers and the consortium consisting of Max Bögl, Ed. Züblin AG and Engie Deutschland GmbH: “We are delighted to have such a capable consortium consisting of highly professional companies with skilled engineers and other specialists working on this new hall for Messe Frankfurt.”

The two-storey hall designed by Kadawittfeldarchitektur GmbH will be inaugurated in time for Automechanika 2018. The building will be approximately 248 metres long, 118 metres wide and approximately 30 metres high. Exhibition space will be around 33,600 gross square metres in total.

An integral component of the new structure’s façade will be provided by the Via Mobile, a covered and glazed transport system with moving walkways and escalators connecting the various halls.
