For the first time ever Serbia opened a hotel from the internationally recognized hotel brand Mercure, owned by tourist and lifestyle group AccorHotels. Thus, Serbia is the 96th country on the list of AccorHotels locations, and the Excelsior became a part of a group of more than 4100 hotels.

The first Serbian Mercure hotel is a result of a cooperation between the Orbis Hotel Group, the strategic partner of French Accor Hotels for Eastern Europe, LAMPSA Hellenic Hotels, and the owner of Belgrade’s Excelsior Hotel. The new hotel, named Hotel Mercure Belgrade Excelsior, has 73 rooms, a restaurant, and a conference hall.

The Excelsior, recently refurbished and located in a close proximity to the Royal Palace and the National Parliament, was built in 1921 and opened in 1924. Before World War II it hosted many celebrities, respectable guests, and famous authors, while in the mid 20th Century it also hosted many foreign and domestice statesmen, presidents of states and governments, and even princes and princesses.
