The international specialised fairs, held this year between 31st of January and 3rd of February 2018, are intended for foreign and local exhibitors, visitors, businesmen, experts, schools and others from the HORECA industry (gastronomy, catering and hotel equipment, drinks, coffees, confectionery, bakery, ice cream production, etc.). Around 15,000 visitors visit the fairs every year. Among them mostly businessmen from Slovenia and neighboring Italy, Austria and the former countries of Yugoslavia. The fairs are also intended for general public, culinary enthusiasts and gourmets.
Through these Fairs, Slovenia and its capital are re-affirming their position as an innovative and trendy culinary destination of Europe that adds to the value of hosted meetings and events, while GR Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre is re-affirming its position as one of the most important regional congress centres. About 500 domestic and foreign exhibitors from more than 20 countries upgrade visitors’ knowledge by presenting the latest trends in gastronomy and technological innovations.
The exhibitors offer a rich and various exhibiting programme with an emphasis on the technological and other innovations. Particular emphasis is placed on accompanying events in the direction of educational workshops, where visitors receive practical knowledge and advice.
The speciality of the fairs are supreme workshops that annually attract more and more visitors for through the workshops — beer brewing workshops, confectionery and bakery workshops La Ganache, preparatino of ice cream and confectionery workshops with Makabo, school of Pizza with the best Italian masters and world champions, bio/vegan workshops, cocktail preparation workshops hosted by the Bartenders Association of Slovenia; Horeca workshops, etc. — the participants gain practical skills and get introduced to the secrets of international and local renowned top-notch chefs/masters.
This year’s fairs offer a novelty: best beer selection, beer brewing workshops and guided beer tastings. On top of it all, the fairs boast with GASTexpo championships: 8th International Championship of Gelato, 6th International Championship »Best Pizza chef of Slovenia«, 2nd National Championship in Cocktail Preparation (non-alcoholic cocktails) and two 1st time championships! Namely, the 1st Championship GASTexpo Beer of The Year and the 1st National Championship in Cocktail Preparation (after dinner).
GR Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre can proudly say that it will once again host the only such professional fairs in Slovenia that dictate trends in catering and hotel industry every year and, thus, complement and upgrade the congress offer of the region.
