Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has selected Nicole Edmund to lead the association’s membership and chapter operations teams as vice president of community, effective today, January 8, 2018. In this newly created position, Edmund will be responsible for the engagement, growth and overall satisfaction of MPI’s global chapter network and membership community.


Edmund has more than 20 years of experience as an association management professional. She most recently served as the associate vice president of membership and chapter relations for Women in Cable Telecommunications. Previously, Edmund held leadership roles with the American Wind Energy Association, the National Retail Federation and the National Association of Women Business Owners. She also spent three years with Walmart Stores Inc., where she managed acquisition efforts of nearly 600 Sam’s Clubs throughout the U.S.


“Nicole has an impressive association background, and we believe her membership expertise and solid business operations and leadership experience will be critical assets as we advance MPI’s strategic growth plans,” said Paul Van Deventer, president and CEO of MPI. “Our team is very much looking forward to partnering with Nicole to further deliver value through our member experience and to our chapter leaders, who are the backbone of our association.”


Edmund has a master of science degree in management with a focus on not-for-profit management from the University of Maryland University College. Additionally, she has a bachelor of science degree in Business Management from Syracuse University. Edmund reports directly to Van Deventer and is based out of MPI’s headquarters in Dallas.

In addition, MPI recently selected Melissa Majors as the new director of the MPI Academy; Julie Holmen as director of business development covering Canada, Europe and Asia; and Drew Holmgreen as senior director of marketing and communications. Major’s start date is today, January 8th as well, and Holmen and Holmgreen joined MPI on December 4 and November 20, 2017, respectively. Note, Kristi Casey Sanders, the former director of the MPI Academy, has assumed the new role of director of thought leadership, which involves working collaboratively with MPI’s sales, education and events teams to create new, innovative and relevant thought leadership offerings.
