Malaysia is on course to highlight its immense potential as a growing exhibition destination in the region by hosting the 13th UFI Asia Pacific Conference, scheduled to be held from 1 – 2 March 2018 at Shangri – La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Themed “New Approaches, Different Angles”, the 13th UFI Asia Pacific Conference is dubbed as the exhibition industry’s most important networking conference in the region. The event is hosted by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau, an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, and is organised by UFI, the global association of the world’s leading tradeshow organisers and fairground owners, as well as the major national and international exhibition associations, and selected partners of the exhibition industry. This would be Malaysia’s second time hosting UFI Asia Pacific Conference after hosting the event a decade ago in 2009.

Between 200 – 250 senior level delegates comprising of exhibition organisers, exhibition centres, associations and service providers related to the exhibition industry are poised to attend the conference, which is expected to generate RM1.8million in economic impact to the country and fully demonstrate the country’s growth potential to become the preferred exhibition destination in the region.

Delegates will hear insights from key opinion leaders such as Dato’ Sri Idris Jala, CEO, PEMANDU; Ali Lee, Founder & MD, Expo Stars Interactive Ltd.; Atul Todi, Co-Founder & CEO, 10times; and Stephanie Selesnick, Blogger & Trainer, International Trade Information Inc.; among others, including top corporate and exhibition industry expert speakers from some of the most experienced UFI members.

Prior to the event on 28 February 2018, MyCEB will be organising an Education Programme involving the Managing Director/CEO of UFI, Kai Hattendorf and students from the local universities at Sunway University. The programme is set to be a knowledge transfer session for the students to gain a better insight into the exhibition industry.

More than 950 international trade fairs proudly bear the UFI approved label, thus making the UFI Asia Pacific Conference as the perfect platform for Malaysia to highlight and promote its burgeoning expansion of space to the global exhibition market. Malaysia’s existing exhibition space currently spans over 140,000 sqm, and the current expansion is set to push the exhibition space to over 356,000 sqm by 2021. Malaysia is also home to several world-renowned international trade exhibitions, namely the Malaysia International Furniture Fair, SEMICON Southeast Asia, Malaysia International Food & Beverage Trade Fair, to name a few.
