Home Fair, the international fair of offers for the home will be held between 13 – 18 March 2018. With this largest specialized international fair in the field of construction in Slovenia and neighboring countries, the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre continues its successful tradition spanning back for 57 years. The fair focuses on the latest trends and novelties in sustainable construction.

The oldest and biggest regional fair of this kind, this year brings around 600 exhibitors from 33 countries and 55,000 visitors into more than 20,000m2 exhibition space in all of the GR halls and in three prefabricated halls. Preparations of the exhibition areas started in early February. On the following photos you can see how the halls are being built and how the halls with their inviting atmosphere look like once they are fully working.

However, the GR’s Home Fair does not stop only at the exhibitors, but it furthers its added value with current and sustainably oriented accompanying program for its visitors with more than 120 professional and independent free advice offers and lectures throughout the fair.  Meaning, the key solutions to questions from those who are building, renovating or planning, will be available from the experts of GI ZRMK – Building and Civil Engineering Institute ZRMK and the ENSVET – Eko Fund Network.

Experts will be giving free advice on any question, »From A to Z«, as Neva Jejčič from GI ZRMK told us in our conversation, »connected to current trends in sustainable constructions, to novelties, and, most importantly, the experts will know exact answers to the questions, doubts or uncertainties in regards to the new construction legislation for Nearly Zero Energy Standard for all new public buildings that will be implemented at the beginning of 2019 .«

Home Fair opens with the award ceremony for the environmental Quality Label in Construction which, already at its launch more than 20 years ago, took into account the environmental aspects. As Ms. Jejčič from IG ZRMK emphasized, »What we did in 1996 was unique for Slovenia. Our criteria for the certificate, being grounded not just in technical, but also in environmental, sustainable, green and societal aspects, was a complete novelty at the time. We were ahead of our time. And at the time many complained against the high criteria, while today the criteria present completely normal standards of sustainability.« With this award, the GR together with GI ZRMK aims to improve the quality and competitiveness in the field of construction in Slovenia, thereby promoting Slovenian innovations in sustainability and key green solutions.

The GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre‘s policy in support for sustainability shows also in its collaborative project with LPP – Ljubljana’s Passenger Transport company. Namely, GR and LPP prepared a cooperative project called »Park & Ride« by which the visitors to the Home Fair can for the price of one city-bus ticket park all day on designated parking areas outside the City Centre and get two bus rides: from the parking lot outside the centre to the GR, and back to the parking lot. This way the GR, in its typical thoughtful, long-term and sustainability oriented manner, contributes to cleaner air of the Slovenian capital, while the visitors get the cheapest and most comfortable parking solution possible.
