Museum of Modern Art (Moderna galerija) in Ljubljana is a national museum that works, in accordance with its mission, in the fields of modern and contemporary art. It was founded in 1947 as a museum of modern art. After 1991, it became the principal institution of modern and contemporary art and an increasingly active link between the local and the international, in particular Central and Eeastern European, contexts.

LOCATION
Since 2011, Museum of Modern Art has been operating on two locations: in the original building of Musem of Modern Art/Moderna galerija (MG+) in the centre of Ljubljana and in the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova/Muzej sodobne umetnosti Metelkova (+MSUM) located on the renovated premises of former military barracks. Both of the buildings offer special venues for meetings and events and are together branded as MG+MSUM.

The MG+’s Auditorium is a bit smaller, it offers 100 seats, for conferences, seminars, consultations and promotional events, but it has a cool rough concrete feel.

+MUSM offers spaces for events of a smaller-size, but with a big character. For example, the Seminar Halls offers 70 seats in a building that enables one to step outside onto the hippest platform in town where the young and the young by heart gather in the evenings to visit Metelkova City where clubs are open all-night-long.
