Museum of Modern Art (Moderna galerija) in Ljubljana is a national museum that works, in accordance with its mission, in the fields of modern and contemporary art. It was founded in 1947 as a museum of modern art. After 1991, it became the principal institution of modern and contemporary art and an increasingly active link between the local and the international, in particular Central and Eeastern European, contexts.
Since 2011, Museum of Modern Art has been operating on two locations: in the original building of Musem of Modern Art/Moderna galerija (MG+) in the centre of Ljubljana and in the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova/Muzej sodobne umetnosti Metelkova (+MSUM) located on the renovated premises of former military barracks. Both of the buildings offer special venues for meetings and events and are together branded as MG+MSUM.
MG+ offers Central Exhibition Hall as a suitable space for corporate events, conferences, receptions, gala events, and equipped with the current exhibition in the strict center of Ljubljana. Imagine, sitting at a conference, while being surrounded by the contemporary art pieces! It provides with 100 seats and 400 standing places.
The MG+’s Auditorium is a bit smaller, it offers 100 seats, for conferences, seminars, consultations and promotional events, but it has a cool rough concrete feel.
+MUSM offers spaces for events of a smaller-size, but with a big character. For example, the Seminar Halls offers 70 seats in a building that enables one to step outside onto the hippest platform in town where the young and the young by heart gather in the evenings to visit Metelkova City where clubs are open all-night-long.
Both of the venues offer to its business guests their own coffee shops that follow the latest trends in coffee and snacks in order to satisfy even the toughest coffee aficionados.
Moderna Coffee Shop at the MG+ is not an ordinary coffee shop. It has its own roasting shop, and offers six different seasonal types of coffee. Moderna Coffee Shop is not only perfectly positioned with a perfect garden where a visitor can enjoy the sun on the warmer days – but it’s gorgeous inside too.
+MSUM’s coffee shop +Kantina shares space with the +MSUM Bookstore on the ground floor of the museum and offers a variety of flavors to the existing international orientation of the museum. +Kantina serves as a meeting point at +MSUM and in the warmest months of the year it extends the service to the museum’s platform.
