International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) claims the Lloyd Rees Award for Urban Design at the Australian Institute of Architecture New South Wales (NSW) Awards on Friday night, 6 July 2018.
The judges of the award praised the innovative, integrated design – both across its flexible spaces and with the precinct around it.
Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said the award was well deserved for the venue that sits at the heart of the A$3.4 billion Darling Harbour revitalisation.
“From design to its operations, ICC Sydney continues to reap praise and sets a new standard across the globe for delivering business events. The venue sits at the epicentre of the public precinct and has also played a fundamental role in enriching Darling Harbour,” Dominello said.
Since opening, ICC Sydney has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the US Green Building Council, recognising its all-encompassing approach to sustainability. ICC Sydney has also been named Australia’s Best Conference Venue at the 2018 Qantas Business Travel Awards and has been well ranked in the illustrious Pollstar Theatre Worldwide Ticket Sales report.
State winners will now vie for the Institute of Architecture National Awards in September this year.
A NSW Government project, ICC Sydney was delivered in partnership with Darling Harbour Live, comprising Lendlease, Hostplus, First State Super, Capella Capital, AEG Ogden and Spotless FM.
