Last year, the Streetfood Festival Tour (organised by Street Food Market Austria) made its first stop outside its borders and brought the original Streetfood spirit to Maribor. This year, the Austrian Streetfood Festival Tour is making another detour beyond its usual track and it will, once again, stop in Maribor. The Street Food Market Maribor will be hosted by Street Food Market Slovenia, Street Food Market Maribor, Factumevent, and Visit Maribor (Maribor-Pohorje Tourist Board).
More than 30 street food artists will for three days on the Leon Štukelj Square (Trg Leona Štuklja) turn the Maribor’s city centre into the international hotspot of street food. The festival, opened every day between the 30th of August and 1st of September from 11am until 10pm, will treat the visitors with global tastes of the road kitchen out of the attractive trucks.
In three days, the visitors will be able to taste different varieties of food: hamburgers, American hot dogs, local buckwheat dumplings, Spanish churros, Belgian waffles, Dutch mini pancakes, Viennese wraps and cheese sandwiches, Argentinian grill, Caribbean cuisine, fried bananas, specialties prepared from oysters, and even from crocodile and zebra. The market will also provide an abundance of versatile vegetarian meals.
The diversity of the Market’s offer is based on freshness and in preparation in front of the visitors; this gives to the festival an additional attractivity next to the captivating vehicles transformed into a mobile street kitchen. Alongside live music programme, the festival will be accompanied by guided culinary tours, tastings of local and foreign wines, presentations and tastings of diverse local and foreign craft beers.
