Q: First of all, please tell us the story of the Old Royal Post Hotel.

The name of the hotel was based on a small house called Old Post which was built in the 18th century and served as the seat of Royal Mail, therefore the name Old Royal Post Hotel. All apartments offered were renovated in 2015 and you will find peace and quietness for relaxation and work.

Q: What difference does a guest feel when staying at your hotel?

We are not a typical hotel. Old Royal Post is a beautiful historical residence and each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen. Guests can enjoy privacy and live with us like at home or visit our bistro for a coffee, food or drinks, or enjoy our summer garden or relax at the reception.

Q: Can you please describe to our readers Prague’s hospitality scene, as you see it?

The hospitality scene in Prague is growing every day. Prague offers lots of possibilities and attracts still more and more travelers who are coming for its beauty. Moreover, Prague is still affordable and safe which has a positive impact for the hospitality industry.

Q: What is, in your opinion, a must see for every visitor in Prague?

Every visitor who visits Prague should definitely see historical monuments in the center of Prague. The most popular sightseeing for visitors of Prague is the Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Square, the Charles Bridge and, of course, the largest castle complex in the world, the Prague Castle.

Q: What is your hotel’s marketing strategy?

There is a variety of marketing tools that old royal post has implemented into their strategy to make themselves visible and to promote their hotel as the best available choice In Prague. The hotel’s website was redone so that it was visually appealing to users as well as easy to book and find any information the user was looking for. Old Royal Post was also rebranded to unify all the information and designs online and on any marketing material so that the brand is more recognizable. The website was also optimized with the use of Keywords and other SEO tactics to boost its visibility on search engines such a Google. Not only does Old Royal Post use its website for guests to book but is also on different OTA’s such as booking.com and Expedia.com. Together with all that, Old royal post uses social media platforms to promote their products and share information with their followers and potential guests. This also includes special promotions and services the guests can book with Old Royal Post such as Breakfast at the Old Royal Post Bistro, The Mail Room.

Q: Who is the typical guest of Old Royal Post Hotel?

Typical guest is anyone who wants luxury experience in the most beautiful and historical part of Prague together with privacy and excellent service our residence offers.

Q: What is your management strategy?

Our management strategy is to have excellent people because with them is easy to provide excellent service. We also like to develop and implement new things. I always like to say: “if not now than when”?

Q: What are the developmental goals for your hotel in 2018?

We have just renovated our residence. Making a new reception and beautiful bistro where guests can taste our excellent food. Now we are implementing new applications and projects to make everything fast and smooth for our guests which adds extra values for them.

Q: How do you compete with other hotels in the city? What is your hotel’s priority?

Competition in the center of Prague is big, but I think we don´t compete with other hotels. From the standard hotel, we differ, design-cozy apartments that are fully equipped and we offer a wide range of additional services. We recently opened our Bistro – The Mail Room Bistro, which is open not only for hotel guests but also for the public.

The priority for our hotel is a satisfied customer returning to us.

Q: Where are you positioning your marketing efforts this year and the next?

It is important for guests returning to Prague to stay with us again, therefor we offer special rates to guests that have stayed with us and also to new guests. We plan to host more events at the property as there is a Bistro/Bar and a private courtyard where we plan to have live music playing during the day. This will promote the property itself to the guest staying at the old royal post and encourage them to stay and enjoy their time not only exploring Prague but also at the property. As the Old royal post also has a bistro, The mail room, the hotel will be able to offer breakfast packages, Lunch and afternoon snacks. In the future, Old royal Post is to become a “family style” accommodation, with regular guests returning each year to stay with us again.

Q: How do you see the cooperation at the local level among Prague’s hoteliers?

I must say that the hoteliers here in Prague are really cooperative and when needed we support each other and help others by offering accommodation or extra service others do not have.

Q: Which is your personal favorite spot in Prague?

This might sound like an advertisement but we have many apartments with rooftop or a beautiful view. And there is nothing better than having the view of the whole historical Prague just for yourself.

Q: Where do you see the key challenges in Prague’s hospitality business?

The key challenge is to provide a meaningful experience for the guests so they want to return to us. This combines many things: modern technology, personal approach, trendy design or excellent service.

Q: What initially attracted you to the hospitality industry?

The urge to travel and to get to know different people and places is something I have always liked. If you are working in the hospitality industry you kind of bring this personal passion into your everyday life.
