At the closing ceremony of this year’s GTZ on October 9th2018 in Piran, the Chamber for Tourism and Catering passed the GTZ in 2019 for the first time to the Union Hotel. The employees of the Union Hotels received a total of three golden awards at the accompanying competition, one gold medal and a bronze recognition and a bronze medal.
During the two-day program of the GTZ and the Days of Slovenian Tourism, that occurred between 8 and 9 October 2018, numerous competitions, exhibitions, workshops, formations of professional lectures and contents were held. The highest awards in tourism were also given. One of the awards is also a recognition for special achievements at work and a contribution to raising the quality of service received by the concierges of Grand Hotel Union Gregor Žibert and Blaž Sok. They have been a part of the world-renowned association of hotel concierge `Les Clefs d’Or since January 2018.
Matej Rigelnik, Chairman of Board of Directors at Union hotels d.d., stated that this will only be the second time in the history of the GTZ that the capital will host this unique event in the Slovenian tourist area. He added that at Union Hotels they are honored to be the host of the event with the longest tradition, which every year again under one roof contributes to innovation in Slovenia, innovation, professionalism, quality and exchange of intergenerational experiences in the field of catering and hotels. He concluded that next year together with the Tourist Board of the Chamber of Slovenia, they will create an exceptional event and add a new chapter to the added value of Slovenian hospitality.
