Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) put in a strong performance at the 2018 Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) Queensland Awards this week taking home two of the major venue awards.

The Centre excelled in the key categories of ‘Meeting, Exhibition or Event Venue – Capacity more than 500’ and ‘Banqueting & Catering’ at the awards which recognise excellence, best practice and professionalism in the meetings and events industry.

Bob O’Keeffe said the awards reflect absolute commitment to excellence in the delivery of events, which is fundamental to the Centre’s operational reputation and business success.

“I am incredibly proud of the efforts of the BCEC Team across the entire operations of the Centre, who continue to deliver outstanding outcomes for our clients every day. It is as an honour to be recognised by our peers at the very top level of the industry and a credit to all those involved.”

Winning the major award for Banqueting & Catering was timely this week, with the Centre playing host to 4,000 guests at breakfasts and lunches for five International Women’s Day events. BCEC was named best in Australia for Banqueting & Catering at last year’s national MEA Awards.

The Centre will now go forward as national award finalists in both categories at this year’s MEA National Conference – Evolve 2019 – to be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre later this month.
