Applauding the team members’ commitment to helping the venue become more sustainable and environmentally friendly, the Centre’s Deputy General Manager, John Burke shared, “We are extremely happy to have achieved our EarthCheck Silver status!”
He continued, “This improvement not only endorses all the hard work and planning that takes place behind the scenes, but showcases how integral every team member is in our endeavour to be an industry leader and world-class venue that operates its business in a responsible and sustainable manner. It also reflects our support of the long-term sustainability goals of the business events industry in Malaysia.”
“Having made the jump from bronze to silver, we look forward to strengthening our control processes to ensure business continuity, compliance and transparency, as we work towards EarthCheck Gold in the future,” Burke concluded.
To achieve EarthCheck Silver Certification, the Centre is required to have an Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy and working practices in place for benchmarking and managing the performance of eight key areas: energy, greenhouse gas emissions, water, community, paper, corporate social responsibility, waste and pesticides and cleaning products. The venue is also judged on its governance, sustainability approach and communication.
