Turkish Airlines is Moving To Istanbul New Airport on April 6, 2019
After significant delays, Turkish Airlines has confirmed that the transition from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Istanbul New Airport will take place on April 6, 2019. They’re calling it “the great move,” and it’s expected to happen from 2AM until 2PM local time, as they transition all of the equipment from one airport to the other. Presumably this will also apply to other major airlines.

The home carrier moving in fully is a significant milestone for the airport, the first phase of which opened on October 29 last year, with capacity for 90 million passengers annually. Once the second phase is completed in 2023, that will rise to 200 million people travelling to 350 destinations across six runways, making it the world’s biggest airport.
