Today the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) ranking was announced regarding the top congress destinations in the world as regards the international association congresses that took place in 2018.

The city of Bologna has achieved excellent results: for the second year in a row it appears, in fact, among the top 100 destinations in the world, with a total of 33 international events hosted, ranking 84th – – like Istanbul and ahead of cities like Frankfurt, Manchester, Venice, Valencia and Seville – and thus gaining seven positions compared to 2017.

The Destination enters the Top 50 in Europe, gaining the 46th place (53rd in 2017) and positions itself in the Top 5 in Italy, beating Turin and classifying itself in 4th place (5th in 2017).

These are very important results: the ICCA report, in fact, compares the performance of destinations all over the world, paying great attention both to the results achieved at a national level and to the data relating to the individual cities.

The positions obtained by the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region are also the official confirmation of the growing trend of concrete requests, stimulated and implemented , starting from the establishment of the Bologna Convention Bureau, which took place in 2016. BCB has worked hard to promote the destination, allowing Bologna to progress significantly in the international meeting industry sector and attracting numerous congress and international event organizers, so as to further expand the knowledge of Bologna and of its increased potential. For example, the great variety and versatility of event venues, both in the historical centre and in the entire metropolitan area, the synergistic collaboration between territorial operators, city institutions and universities as well as its privileged geographical position, make it a destination of great international interest. Bologna is indeed a natural crossroad for Italy and the world; a logistic advantage that is followed by a continuous strengthening of the railway and motorway lines and by the activation of always new intercontinental flights, as is shown by the new American Airlines flight Bologna-Philadelphia, which will be scheduled starting from June 2019.
