Innovative and sustainable offerings combined with scientific and commercial expertise are trademarks of Germany as a destination for meetings, conferences and events. At this years IMEX in Frankfurt (21 to 23 May), these aspects take centre stage at the Germany stand (F100) in hall 8 of Messe Frankfurt. With more than 200 exhibitors, it is the biggest stand of any country at IMEX. Visitors can meet and engage not only with numerous hotels, congress centres, venues, local CVBs, event agencies and other service providers but also with the GCBs strategic partners GNTB (German National Tourist Board), Deutsche Bahn AG and Deutsche Lufthansa AG. About 9,000 business visitors are expected to attend IMEX as the worldwide leading event for incentive travel, meetings and events.

Innovative venues, education and expertise

Among the venues exhibiting at the stand are innovative providers showcasing the variety of options for event planners such as Kunstkraftwerk Leipzig and the Orca ten Broke seminar boat. Both won a GCB wild card to exhibit at IMEX. While the industrial vibes of the former power station Kunstkraftwerk regularly attract digital culture and art happenings, as well as corporate events, the floating venue Orca ten Broke, is a multifunctional, state-of-the-art meetings and event option for up to 200 people that can cruise all inland waters in Germany and Europe from its home port Berlin.

Results presentation of study on Europe as a meetings destination

The GCB also presents a fully packed (German-language) education programme in its Communication Cube, featuring industry expert talks and sessions on, e.g., customer relations, sustainability in the meetings sector, storytelling and leadership. Plus, the GCBs MD Matthias Schultze will present the results of a recent study on Europe as a meetings destination together with other members of the Strategic Alliance of the National Convention Bureaux of Europe (22 May, 4 pm, Research Pod, Inspiration Hub, Hall 9). The research project highlights the current economic and political trends that influence Europe as a destination for meeting and events and provides recommendations for the industry.
