Food and wine, the Instagram challenge and a direct streaming

The world’s largest regatta will take place in Trieste on 13 October, but already from 5 October, the city will become a stage for the excellent features of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Visitors, sportspeople and all sailing enthusiasts who come to Trieste will be welcomed by PromoTurismoFVG at a food and wine stand with a regional wine bar/shop, a beer bar and an area dedicated to products of the Karst. And for those who love photography and social networks, as of 30 September, the Instagram challenge will take place with a prize, for the most beautiful photo, of free participation in the Day Sailing course. Finally, those who are unable to attend the event can watch the live streaming of the race from the webcam covering the Gulf of Trieste.


From the regional wine bar/shop, coordinated by the Associazione Italiana Sommelier of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which will showcase DOC and DOCG wines and excellent products including Prosciutto di San Daniele (cured ham) and Montasio cheese, to the beer bar run by the Associazione Birrai FVG, where visitors can taste various products, and the area dedicated to the gourmet products of the Karst, organised by the Association of Producers of the Karst: the entire food and wine offer of the region and of the Strada del Vino e dei Sapori (Route of Wine and Flavours) of Friuli-Venezia Giulia will be presented at a stand covering 250 square metres situated in the sponsor area of the Villaggio Barcolana. It will be open every day from 10am – 12am.


In the wake of the success achieved by two Instagram challenges this summer in Lignano Sabbiadoro and Grado, with almost two thousand eight hundred (2,778) photos posted on social networks, PromoTurismoFVG is launching a new photo challenge under the official hashtag #barcolanachallenge as of 30 September, also for the Barcolana 2019.
On Sunday 13 October, the winner of the most beautiful photo will be nominated to take part in the Day Sailing course that lasts 3 days and is offered free by Società Velica Barcola Grignano. The topics covered will include an introduction to the fundamental principles of sailing, manoeuvring at ports, mooring at quays and the main knots.
