GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre is this year celebrating many anniversaries. From the venue itself celebrating its 65th birthday, to its own Nature-Health Fair that was recently celebrating its 50th edition. Currently, the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre is celebrating its Ambient Ljubljana – Furniture and Interior Design Fair in its 30th edition with an accompanying 10th Exchange and the exhibition of young, not yet established architects, designers, and other creators – the TOP IDEAS. Ambient Ljubljana – Furniture Fair is simultaneously run under the same roof with the 4th edition of the International Home Plus Fair under a common slogan »Finally Home!« between the 6th and the 10th of November 2019.
The jubilee 30th Ambient Ljubljana was officially opened by Prime Minister of Slovenia, Marjan Šarec. At the opening ceremony the GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre presented also awards and accolades for this year’s best design achievements – Top of the Top. Among the five awarded products, the special jury decided the winner to be the company Pirnar d.o.o. for its unique door pull that works as an excellent combination of functionality, technology, and aesthetics.
Ambient Ljubljana, GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre’s fair showcasing the latest trends and solutions in furniture and interior design, is also this year accompanied by the International Home Plus Fair. Visitors who are planning or deciding on either renovating, building or refurbishing their living, business and other environments, have a a 5-day opportunity to visit both fairs with one ticket. The traditionally organised by the GR itself and under the same roof, the fairs are this year hosting more than 230 exhibitors from more than 20 countries. While the Ambient Ljubljana is presenting the offer of furniture and interior design, the Home Plus Fair exhibits woodwork, heating and cooling engineering, prefabricated houses, security, and landscaping.
TOP IDEAS
Every year, the fairs are accompanied by a rich programme spanning from free counselling for visitors to an award for outstanding products. This year as well, the accompanying programme offers projects with a common denominator TOP: an exhibition of five outstanding and award-winning desing products, selected by a special international jury. TOP IDEAS, the celebratory 10th Exchange and exhibition of young, not yet established architects and designers presents the ideas of individuals, groups or new sole proprietors.
Other awards and recognitions are presented at the fair this year, such as the Slovenian Designers’ Association Award, the Golden Plaque of Our Home magazine and 3 equivalent Top Ideas awards. As a Special Guest this year, Croatian design brand NUNC presents itself with its first and most comprehensive collection of furniture from chairs, tables, beds, etc. to the wooden space divider. Master’s students in industrial design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Ljubljana also participate in the fair with a special exhibition Papiro-logía.
TOP ARCHITECT
Carefully designed and implemented is essential for the final look of the home and a condition for a pleasant stay. Anyone visiting the Ambient Ljubljana can take an advantage of a free architectural consultanty – the TOP ARCHITECT. Individual consultations are organised and lead by Construction Institute ZRMK and by Our Home Magazine (revija Naš dom).

Free consultations and consultants and experts from the Construction Institute of the ZRMK and the EN SVET – Eco Fund Network are available throughout the fair. Every day, visitors can get advice from experienced architects, landscape architects, building physicists, heating and cooling experts, experts in the fields of building in passive or almost no-energy standard, as well as independent expert lectures and presentations regarding sustainable building, sustainable heating, living environment, and building systems.
