Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP) – home to some of Australia’s top sporting and entertainment events, including the Australian Open Grand Slam – has announced it will showcase its new state-of-the-art events centre, CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park, at IBTM World 2019, held in Barcelona, Spain, on 19–21 November.

Architecturally designed to embody Australia’s native landscape, CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park is only minutes from Melbourne’s lively CBD and connected by path, rail, road and river. Its new spaces stream natural light across the venue, while floor to ceiling windows invite the surrounding flora and fauna in.

“Melbourne is renowned as the cultural hub of Australia and it’s not hard to see why. From our vibrant laneways with world-renowned coffee, unmatched Aussie sporting and entertainment events, and an array of unparalleled cuisines – there is certainly something here for everyone. Our newest venue is set to enhance our city’s marvellous moments, and we can’t wait to guide delegates at IBTM World on how it can transform their upcoming events through a truly Aussie experience,” said Lara Burnes, General Manager, Premier Events & Experiences.

“Part of a multiyear $972 million redevelopment, CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park will join our impressive line-up of world-class venues including Rod Laver Arena, AAMI Park, Margaret Court Arena and Melbourne Arena. We are already seeing our vision come to life, with construction starting this month on the steel skeleton of the building,” said Burnes.

The venue offers indoor and outdoor function spaces that are suitable for any event. Catering for from 10 to 3000 guests – the main ballroom can be transformed into any configuration for an event, seating up to 1400 guests for a gala dinner and up to 3000 for a cocktail party. CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park is scheduled for completion in late 2021.
