In late October, the HoReCa Adria fair for the fifth time gathered in the sea-town of Opatija the leading suppliers from the tourism and catering sector. More than 90 exhibitors from Croatia and Europe showcased the latest equipment, devices and technology. More than 3,000 items for hotel, apartment, and restaurants included as many as 30 products that were showcased on Croatian market for the first time. Designed for hotel owners, owners of apartments, villas and guest houses, caterers, restaurateurs, investors, as well as architects and designers, the fair is the place where the new season begins and where the sectors are linked while creating new values.

The time of the fair set for immediately after the tourist season has in the five editions of the fair, organised by Turizam Info, proved to be the optimal time as the tourist workers are still thinking on how to raise the quality and how to invest into the equipment. “Behind us is a challenging tourist season that has shown how important the quality of tourist facilities is, in every segment, from equipment and furnishings to quality of service. We have adapted the exhibition program to that, so that visitors can really find the best for their facilities,” says Adriano Požarić, director of the HoReCa Adria fair.

This year’s special addition to the fair was the Masterclass for hoteliers and caterers that took place on the first day of the three-day fair. The focus of the Masterclass was on improving the quality of service in tourism and catering. Programme of this special training included a guided tasting of Plešivica wines that come from one of the most important and interesting Croatian regions. Particularly attractive was the tuna cutting, hosted by tuna cutting master who presented traditional tuna processing on tuna that came from Kali tuna, considered to be one of the highest quality in the world and often found in the world’s best restaurants. Masterclass included also a programme on types of sushi, their characteristics, and different ways of preparations.

HoReCa Adria fair is a project by Turizam Info magazine, launched with the aim of connecting tourism suppliers with hoteliers, apartment owners, restaurateurs, caterers, and all others involved in tourism in one place. At the fair they get introduced into new trends and technologies as well as exchange experiences. It seems that the fair is successfully delivering as the popularity of it is rapidly rising. This year there were 90 exhibitors what makes for 20 exhibitors more than last year, or rather for an almost 25% increase in exhibitors in one year. Considering that the fair is sponsored and supported by the City of Opatija, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, and the Kvarner Tourist Board, we might expect its number to raise in the future as well.
