From October 27th to November 2nd, Coex Convention & Exhibition Center hosted the International Conference on Computer Vision 2019 (ICCV 2019), the world’s largest international conference in the field of visual and artificial intelligence. Organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Korean Computer Vision Society, the event attracted over 7,500 professionals, academics, researchers, and students, including 5,000 international participants from 50 nations. Over the duration of the conference, more than 1,077 papers were presented in topics such as facial recognition technology for security management, environment recognition technology for autonomous vehicles and virtual and augmented reality.

During the week-long conference, Coex became a knowledge hub as the field’s leading researchers and academics presented over tutorials, workshops, lectures, and demos. In the exhibition hall, more than 70 international companies including Amazon, Facebook, Google, LG, Samsung Electronics, and Uber also participated and showcased their respective cutting-edge technology and products in artificial intelligence and computer vision.

The conferences and exhibitions were neatly organized within Coex’s flexible facilities, including the centre’s numerous lobby spaces. The centre became ideal grounds for networking and discussions for the passionate participants, with many attendees continuing their discussions well past the end of each conference day.

The ICCV 2019’s hosting at Coex was the culmination of a five-year effort beginning with the Korea Computer Vision Society’s bid in 2014 with the hosting rights at Coex secured the following year. With the aid of Coex’s in-house PCO, which served as the official event organizing secretariat, this year’s edition of ICCV turned out to be the conference’s most successful and highest-attended edition yet.
