IN SEARCH OF PERFECTION

The Adriatic Sea and the Saints Hills’ vineyards are but a stone’s throw away from Dubrovnik, and two from Diocletian’s Palace in Split and Vespasian’s Amphitheatre in Pula. The winery celebrates the sea and the sun, Istria and Dalmatia, the Bora and the Sirocco, the stone and the vine.

And through this little window in their house, amid the Dingač vineyards, guests can see the millennial path of the holy liquid wine, from the Greek amphorae that carried it through the canal, to the wooden trabaccoli that carried it to Split. Following a path both sides of the Pelješac peninsula, all the way to Istria, they set forth in search of perfection.

Their vineyard St. Roko is located near the base of the scenic Pelješac peninsula, just north of the point where it becomes the mainland. This region is called Komarna, known for winegrowing since the Middle Ages. In this particular micro locality, the vine was never grown and in the middle, stone tombs stand as legendary resting places of our ancient inhabitants, the Illyrians. The mystical, southwest slopes of St. Roko are extremely steep, extremely difficult to cultivate, and extremely full of limestone which protects the vine from drought.
