With the imminent threat of COVID-19 being under control and summer at the doorstep, people are thinking about travelling again. Though the travel may not look like what was initially planned, hotels and tourist service providers are getting ready to welcome tourists again. Most countries already allow crossing the borders of the neighbouring countries and it is the perfect opportunity to explore the not so distant destinations leisurely or to finally meet your business partners and colleagues in person.

BEACH

Among the reopened hotels is also the most prestigious hotel in Slovenia, Kempinski Palace Portorož, which officially opened its doors again on 11 June. In addition to its superior offer, it will soon be delighting guests with its own private beach. The so-called Palace Beach is located opposite the hotel and is part of the Central Portorož beach. The unveiling of the beach is planned in the second half of June and guests will have deckchairs and VIP cabins at their disposal.

Kai Behrens, General Manager of Kempinski Palace Portorož

“Slovenia has been named as one of the safest countries to travel after the COVID-19 situation and after the first weekend of operation, I can say that we have successfully started the season and that our guests feel safe and comfortable. In a combination of high quality and sophisticated services related to authentic and personalized service, the hotel has implemented the program “Kempinski White Glove Service”, in which the hotel offers above-standard safety and hygiene guarantees, but at the same time still endless comfort and 5-star guest service.”

SAFETY

According to Mr. Behrens, the program includes all aspects of luxury hospitality, taking into account the recommendations made by the National Institute of Public Health and national directives. Guests who want complete privacy have the option of opting out of the room, which means that the guest receives all hotel services, but these are performed in front of the room door, and none of the employees enters their room during their stay.

ACTIVITIES

The hotel has reopened strongly, reporting a 70 % occupancy rate over the weekend, but in order to provide maximum safety and comfort for the guests, further room sales were stopped. Guests will be able to enjoy a wide range of summer activities offered by both the hotel and the destination this season. The selection includes unforgettable sea views from the hotel rooms, relaxation on the new Palace Beach, and active cycling adventures with the hotel concierge Marjan, who leads guests to unique vantage points and reveals hidden gems and corners of the destination.

GASTRONOMY

Ms. Petra Zierer Head of PR at Kempinski Palace Portorož addresses all gastronomy and Istrian cuisine lovers with a promise of pampering their palates in the hotel this year. The guests will be surprised by novelties, up for them by the new head of the kitchen. “Both geographically and gastronomically, the Istrian region is very developed and strong, and the chef’s surprises will include all kinds of dishes: from fresh delicacies from the Adriatic Sea to iconic truffles,” explains Ms. Zierer.
