The website of Ljubljana, finalist for the European Capital of Culture 2025, won the 3rd WEBSI Web Champions award in the category of public and non-governmental organisations.

With the website epk.ljubljana.si they created a space where the dynamic graphic form of the project came to life representing the daring and the diversity of artistic content in Ljubljana. The website is also the space where the project group is communicating with the citizens and is motivating them to cooperate and co-create Ljubljana as a cultural capital.

The European Capital of Culture (ECoC) is the most important initiative of the European Union in the field of culture. The fundamental aim of the ECoC programme is to accentuate the wealth and diversity of European cultures and the common cultural heritage, as well as to promote the intercultural dialogue and increase mutual understanding between European citizens. Since 1985, 60 cities held the title, among them 18 national capitals.

In the City of Ljubljana, they see the candidacy for the title European Capital of Culture 2025 as an opportunity to achieve strategic development goals of the city and the region. And so, with the support of 25 municipalities of the Ljubljana Urban Region they are embarking on the path towards the title European Capital of Culture 2025.
