Community Day will bring together experts from inside and outside the business events industry to deliver a series of free learning sessions exploring Event Design; Hybrid & Tech; Restarting Business; Equality & Diversity and more.

Olympic medal winner overcoming challenges

In IAPCO’s session, Olympians and meeting professionals – not so different after all, British Olympic rower Victoria Thornley will detail how she dealt with the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, adjusting her training regime and mental preparation. She is joined by Panos Tzivanidis, Director of Corporate Events and Services at the International Olympic Committee, who will explain what it will take to ensure the rescheduled event takes place in 2021.

Largest global gathering of #EventCanvas

Creating memorable and engaging experiences is at the heart of live events and is set to be even more important once the sector returns to full health. Event professionals can map out the experience journey through the latest thinking in event design. During PlanetIMEX #EventCanvas is inviting people to become part of the largest gathering of the global community of #EventCanvas users and trained practitioners of the Event Canvas™ methodology. Sharing an international perspective on how the industry and governments have addressed the pandemic is the Northstar Travel Group. In Breaking news: reporting on COVID-19’s impact on the meetings industry, Northstar’s leading editors from the UK, US and Asia will detail how they have covered the pandemic, how they perceive the industry evolving, their analysis of latest research, and what they expect for the future.

From gaming to game-changing events

While the pandemic has accelerated digital experience trends for the business events industry, others such as eSports, were already ahead of the curve. PCMA’s session Digital engagement lessons from the gaming world will explain the emerging technology and design techniques used to create captivating digital experiences that can be adapted for business events.

Likewise, the digital community Zeus digs into how B2B event-tech companies have adjusted their offerings for a post-pandemic world and explore the latest technological innovations.

Best practice findings from planning and hosting a multi-site hybrid conference will be detailed by the GCB in A scientific exploration of event formats – best practice example of BOCOM. BOCOM (Experience Borderless Communication), held recently, was supported by Fraunhofer IAO Institute as part of scientific exploration of the characteristics, benefits and limitations of the different elements of hybrid formats.
