The Digital Champions Award 2020 was conferred at the end of November. The admission control system ViCo – Visitor Control from dimedis has won the Digital Champions Award in the category “Digital transformation of the German Mittelstand” in the region West. In addition, the jury chose ViCo for the award as “Best Regional Champion”. Thus, the jury rewarded dimedis in its role as an innovative solution provider for a fully automated and digital admission control solution.
The Digital Champions Award is Germany’s largest cross-sector award in the field of digitalization. The joint project from Telekom, a telecommunications company, and WirtschaftsWoche, a business news magazine, provides a platform for successful digitization drivers from the German medium-sized companies. The award’s patron is the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier.
The nine-member expert jury consisted of the following persons: Beat Balzli (WirtschaftsWoche), Hagen Rickmann (Telekom Deutschland), Magdalena Rogl (Microsoft Germany), Dr. Wladimir Klitschko (ex-professional boxer and entrepreneur), Christina Burkhardt (Shiftschool GmbH), Prof. Dietmar Grichnik (University of St. Gallen), Annabelle Jenisch (TLGG Consulting), Sabine Scheunert (Mercedes-Benz Cars) as well as Dr. Hubertus Porschen (Die jungen Unternehmer, the German federal association of young entrepreneurs). The jury’s assessment criteria were the quality of the customer orientation, the digital strategy, the product quality and the business model.
ViCo will still be relevant even after the COVID-19 crisis ends. With the dimedis analytics package, banks, the retail sector and public buildings, in particular, are able to better understand and predict the behavior of their customers. Predictive analytics makes it possible to prevent lines of customers forming, to communicate proactively and to improve the personnel planning. Furthermore, ViCo’s screens and columns serve as an additional channel for content and advertising.
