Following the announcement of the four-step reopening road map, and inclusion of events in the latter stages, the East of England Arena and Events Centre has welcomed the opportunity to recommence Covid-19 secure events as it had been doing prior to the last full lockdown.

The venue has taken the very best of Covid-19 secure guidance from the industry’s trade associations and overlaid them to create its own All Secure Guidance, a comprehensive and proven method to safely deliver live events.

Jason Lunn

Venue Director

Jason Lunn, venue director, commented on the announcement, “We delivered some of the largest and safest events in the UK before lockdown – The Outdoor Motorhome Campervan Sale, Truckfest and the Festival of Antiques by working very closely with our colleagues in local public health and environmental health. Since lockdown, we have continued to keep them abreast of developments and how they would affect the reopening of the venue and they will be a key part of our extended team when we reopen and we will continue to host both the NHS vaccine centre and NHS Covid-19 testing centre that have been operating from our venue.”

Lunn concluded, “We have the experience and expertise to get events up and running quickly under Covid secure guidance having run several events last year, and we are looking forward to being able to make announcements about the coming year’s schedule. But let’s not forget to thank the NHS and everyone who has worked so hard to roll out the vaccine and give us an opportunity to get back to doing what we do best.”

Senior events manager for the venue, Pamela Newbould, added, “We understand that we will be able to run drive-in events from 12th April, events with 1000 attendees indoor and 4000 outdoor from 17th May, then all events subject to any remaining mitigations from 21st June. We are already working with local public health and local authorities on how we can open and we will continue to work with organisers to help them deliver Covid-19 safe events in line with the steps of the reopening road map.”
