FITUR – International Tourism Travel Trade Fair in Madrid was considered an “Event of Exceptional Public Interest” by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Spanish Government. This recognition represents an important endorsement by the Public Administration to the work of IFEMA, the organizer of the travel trade fair.

The “Event of Exceptional Public Interest”, included in the General State Budget for 2021, came into effect at the beginning of the year and will be valid until 31 December 2023, as published in Law 11/2020, of December 30th, on the General State Budget for 2021. In addition to the benefits that this recognition from the Government brings, it also serves as an important stimulus for the recovery of the market, as well as to promote and revitalise the tourist image of Spain. Through this legal figure, the participation of the private sector in FITUR will be promoted, which will contribute to the strengthening of cooperation ties between the public and private sectors.
