International Confex was due to take place in March 2021 but back in November 2020 organisers postponed it to May 2021. The most recent announcement is International Confex’s third date change in order to ensure the event can take place in-person.
Event director Duncan Custerson said: “It’s been an appalling 12 months for the industry, and there is no doubt we have suffered business casualties. But as an industry, I genuinely believe we have been galvanised.”
“The industry has come together this year, but we think it is vital to physically bring everyone together in person too, so we are planning to make 2021’s International Confex the most powerful yet. Everyone in the sector is welcome, and we urge you all to support each other.”
ExCeL London was transformed into Nightingale Hospital in 2020 to treat patients infected with Covid-19. The venue has since been working with the AEV (Association of Event Venues) to develop the All Secure Standard, an industry-wide benchmark for the safe return of organised events. In addition, ExCeL London has set out 10 principles which will enable events at the venue to run safely.
