The East of England Arena has announced it will be opening its gates to the public for the first time in 2021 with the arrival of The Drive-In Cinema, April 17, 2021. The Drive-In Cinema will be showing three feature films in three sittings, each sitting includes comedy, a live quiz and audiences will be able to order food and drink for delivery to their car.

Pamela Newbould, senior events manager at East of England Arena, explained how the venue was able to resume live events in mid-April, saying, “Over the last 12 months we have built strong collaborative relationships with local government, public health and our many partners in dealing with the pandemic from a venue and event perspective.”

“Step two in the government’s pandemic exit plan begins, hopefully, on April 12, 2021, and permits the reopening of outdoor hospitality under specific guidance. We’ve been able to satisfy all our stakeholders that our venue can be made safe and covid-secure under this guidance, for the public, our personnel and everyone working at or visiting our venue. We’re absolutely delighted to be able to welcome The Drive-In Cinema and our first audiences of 2021 on April 17, and I’m confident it will be the first of a trickle, and then a flood of events coming back to the Arena, as the pandemic restrictions continue to be lifted this year.”
