In the heart of Pinzgau, you will find Kaprun Castle, which was built in the 12th century. It has become a popular event location in recent years after intensive renovation and restoration work. Corporations and companies from home and abroad use the castle for company celebrations or large-scale events. The construction of Kaprun Castle is assumed to have taken place around the 12th century, as the east tower shows Romanesque criteria. In 1280, the “Turn zu Chaprunne” is mentioned in documents as compensation for the encroachments of the Velbers. The castle was probably initially owned by the Counts of Falkenstein or Peilstein.
