Cyprus Incentives and Meetings Associates (CIMA) the organisers behind Meet in Cyprus 2021 | Virtual Expo, are pleased with the successful completion of the expo held on the 14th and 15th of April. The event was co-sponsored by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, Hermes Airports and CIMA.

The virtual expo, a first for Cyprus, included an array of presentations, workshops and panel discussions. Key speakers were the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr Savvas Perdios, the Cyprus Convention Bureau, the Tourism Boards of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaka, Famagusta, Paphos and Troodos, among others.

The panel between the Dep. Minister, Mr Podimatas and Professor Dimitrios Buhalis was a particularly interesting discussion, navigating the post-pandemic landscape in travel and events. Currently, Cyprus is open for travel to more than 60 source markets including all of Europe, Russia, the UK and the US.

With over 20 exhibitors, including some of the island’s best hotels and DMCs, Meet in Cyprus was an opportunity to showcase the island and of course the wide range of possibilities offered for Meetings & Incentive travel. Over the course of two days, the expo had more than 300 virtual visitors from 37 countries. At the same time more than 500 virtual appointments with the local exhibitors were arranged. More importantly, the marketing buildup to the expo meant that Cyprus as a Meetings & Incentive destination was showcased to tens of thousands of industry professionals, through targeted campaigns.

About CIMA

Cyprus Incentives & Meetings Associates (CIMA) was formed in 1997 to represent the stakeholders to the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) industry in Cyprus. While the founding members were DMCs, today the association represents DMCs, PCOs, Hotels, Venues, AV, transport companies and ancillary partners to the industry in Cyprus.

CIMA has a permanent seat at the Cyprus Convention Bureau’s advisory committee, under the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, with the aim to promote MICE on the island.
