Green nature is always only a step away

Slovenia is one of the most environmentally friendly countries in the world. According to the Good Country Index, Slovenia ranks fourth among 154 countries in terms of its positive contribution to the planet and the climate. It boasts vast forests, rich biodiversity, numerous protected areas and parks, exceptional water wealth and high-quality drinking water. The Alps, the Mediterranean, and the Pannonian Plain – Slovenia is the only European country where you can find all three. More than 22 thousand animal and plant species live here. Nearly 60% of Slovenia’s surface is covered by forests and almost 40% of its territory lies in protected areas.

Sustainability and safety at the forefront

For years we have strived to act in a sustainable and responsible manner towards its wonderful green nature and rich local cultural heritage, setting an example for others with our actions. We are proud that Slovenia has been considered one of the safest countries in the world for years. On the latest Global Peace Index for 2020, Slovenia ranked 11th. The reputation of a safe country is maintained by responsible behaviour to preserve health at the national and local levels. Responsible travel standards of Slovenian tourism are communicated with the GREEN & SAFE label and offer an upgrade of our sustainable practices with a new responsibility to local communities and guests.

High health and hygiene standars

Slovenian health and hygiene standards are in compliance with the SafeTravels health and hygiene global standardised protocols of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). The hospitality sector carefully carries out all recommendations to prevent infections. In addition, the Slovenian Convention Bureau established a certification system Safe and Healthy Meetings & Events in cooperation with the National Institute of Public Health, based on 65 different criteria that venues and event organisers must comply with in order to ensure maximum safety of event attendees in the post-pandemic world. This way, we protect our visitors, employees, and the local community.
