The Rally has been in intensive planning for nearly two years, and after its postponement in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working especially hard with the local authorities, hotels and other vendors in Portorož and Piran to prepare for a 2021 event that could be run as safely as possible in these unusual times.
Our first priority continues to be the health and well-being of our customers, our staff, our dealers and the local people in Portorož, and as a result of the continued unpredictability of the pandemic, including rapidly changing travel and lockdown restrictions across Europe, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel.
Tom Robinson, Consumer Experience Manager, EMEA said: “We have explored every avenue available to run the 2021 European H.O.G. Rally, as we know it means so much to so many people. We recognise that travel for our customers – especially across borders – would have been challenging, so cancellation was the most responsible thing to do. I would especially like to thank the local authorities, hotels in the town of Portorož and our sponsors and vendors for their patience and work in supporting this event.”
At Harley-Davidson and within the Harley Owners Group, we take great pride in creating uniquely engaging customer events. We will continue to plan and support local and international motorcycle rallies, relying on local health guidelines to inform our participation and protect our staff, our riders and our communities. These events epitomise the spirit of freedom, adventure and kinship on the open road, and are an integral part of our commitment to this greatest of global motorcycle communities. We will make announcements on future European events at the appropriate time.
