NUF or Nordisk Urologisk Förening (Scandinavian Association of Urology) normally meets up for its’ congress every other year. The previous 2019 congress was arranged in Reykjavik. During the pandemic, many congresses ended up arranging a virtual event or rescheduled the conference to a later date. The Nordic urologists chose the latter solution.
“We want to organise a memorable and also safe congress with many urologists and urological nurses from all over the Nordic countries participating. In addition to the scientific programme, conferences are also very social events, and a virtual event can never replace personal encounters. Therefore, the decision was made to reschedule the NUF conference to the summer of 2022,” says Chairman of the organizing committee Mika Matikainen, from HUS, Helsinki University Hospital, and the Finnish Urological Association.
400-500 urologists and urological nurses are expected to attend the NUF conference. The conference will be arranged for the 33rd time and will include an exhibition in addition to the scientific programme.
“We have reserved lecture, exhibition and meeting facilities for the conference in the bright and inspiring Messukeskus Conference Centre. The glass-roofed Valo Hall allows conference lunches to be enjoyed in the natural light of summer. Participants are served by Messukeskus’ own Holiday Inn hotel under the same roof,” says Congress Manager Kaiju Pitkänen from Messukeskus.
Urology includes research and surgical and medical treatment of male and female kidney and urinary tract diseases and male genital diseases. In addition to clinical research and laboratory tests, urology utilises imaging and endoscopy studies in diagnostics.
