Manchester City vs Chelsea

The city of Porto has been chosen by UEFA to host the Champions League final. It will be on the pitch of Estádio do Dragão that Manchester City and Chelsea will compete for the title of the best European team, on May 29th (Saturday), at 8 pm. The announcement has already been confirmed by FC Porto and Federação Portuguesa de Futebol.

The game was initially scheduled for Istanbul, but the fact that Turkey is going through a more complicated pandemic situation, even appearing on UK’s red list, forced UEFA to review its plans. The Wembley Stadium in London was also considered, but Estádio do Dragão ended up being the arena chosen by the organiser for the last match of the Champions League.

The stands at Estádio do Dragão will not be empty for the Champions League final. 12 thousand fans are expected, 6 thousand from each team.

This is the first time that the city of Porto hosts the final of Europe’s biggest football competition, but in recent years it has already hosted another important football match in Portugal, Nations League final round, an event in which Portugal became champion.
