Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) with the support of the secretariat, Malaysia Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) launched the Business Events (BE) Stewards Programme in support of the national vaccination programme by having BE personnel as volunteers at the vaccination centres (PPV).

Over 20 MyCEB staff are rolling up their sleeves to help out at mega Covid-19 vaccine centres as facility volunteers starting 8 July 2021, assisting with non-medical duties at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) and the Setia City Convention Centre. Besides taking on roles as PPV centres.

At the same time, MyCEB has teamed up with industry players to identify and nominate representatives as volunteers from each of organisation per state under Business Events and Tourism Industry for this programme. Over 200 BE practitioners had volunteered their time as BE Stewards to ensure the smooth-running of the vaccination programmes at various PPVs.

Among the PPVs for the BE Stewards Programme are the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC), Setia City Convention Centre, Shah Alam Convention Centre, Austin International Convention Centre (Johor), Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Sabah International Convention Centre, Langkawi International Convention Centre, and Setia Spice Convention Centre (Penang) and many others.

I’m proud that my team are doing their part and dedicating their time to help get Malaysia vaccinated. Having the BE Stewards Programme is our way of working in partnership with the society and to be in service to the people in any way possible, and to encourage more people to also join hands to help achieve the nation’s vaccination target,” said Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB.

The implementation is planned to help revive the tourism industry that has been severely affected by the pandemic outbreak. This commitment can be a catalyst for the country’s tourism industry to bounce back, in turn assisting the country in accelerating the recovery phase economy in line with the National Recovery Plan.
