The European Film Forum Tallinn, as the winter season’s premier summit for innovation in the European audiovisual industry, returns to the Tallinn Nordic Hotel Forum on Monday, November 22, as part of the programme of Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event. The 2021 edition, “Readiness for Industry Renaissance 2.0” showcases the rising stars and innovators in virtual production, big data and artificial intelligence boosting film and content business in Europe.

In 2021 Creative Europe MEDIA program is evolving as the primary supporter of the European audiovisual industry. The combination of structural changes in the industry and the new terms Creative Europe MEDIA marks the arrival of a new era of opportunities for European storytellers and audiovisual industry entrepreneurs discussed at the European Film Forum format.

The headliners for the half a day, the executive-level hybrid summit in Tallinn include Jannike Mikkelsen – award-winning Director of Photography, explorer and Norway’s one of the most influential women in tech; Mikko Kodisoja, co-founder of globally acclaimed Supercell game studio and founder of Helsinki’s new FireFrame virtual production studios. Rain Rannu, Estonia’s entrepreneur of the year and unicorn investor, is set to launch a new film and content investment fund to invest in global feature films under his “Tallifornia” studios.

Additional showcases include discussion on virtual production in the region and the LedUnit Studios and how entertainment executives can harness Europe’s data and AI solutions for success. Cinelytic, Promomii, and Willco’s production management platform used on the recent “Foundation” series will present the latest production and financing management solutions and innovations.

Sten-Kristian Saluveer, the curator of EFFT21, says “At the end of 2021 European industry standing at crossroads: we are still coping with the COVID19 pandemic and the crashing of the indie value chain. Yet, we are on the verge of the biggest renaissance, looking at new support and innovation measures on behalf of the European Commission, growing commissions and reopening theatrical. We are tremendously excited to bring another trend-setting Film Forum in Tallinn in our long partnership with the European Commission to explore and beacon where the industry will be heading next. The only limit seems to be understanding the audiences, markets, and shifts – and taking bold strategic decisions.”

The European Film Forum is organised by the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event under the mandate of the European Commission.
