THE CZECH REPUBLIC IS NOT JUST PRAGUE
LOCATION
Olomouc is among the bigger cities in the Czech Republic with over 100.000 inhabitants and is known as the historical capital of Moravia. The old city centre is the most important historical region in the country alongside Prague. Equally intriguing is the rest of the city. Next to the main sports station of the Czech football side FC Sigma, one will find a selection of sports facilities and green parks. The first congress hotel of the Spanish hotel chain NH Hotels found its home in this tidy part of town. The charm of the location is its spaciousness, greenery and rich sports offering. Moreover, all the city’s sights are a shot away.
ACCESSIBILITY
The majority of regional guests arrive at Olomouc by car. The road connections are solid in the Czech Republic; however, one must consider numerous construction works that cause traffic jams. Guests choosing to arrive by plane can land at the airport at Brno or Ostrava, while the airport in Vienna is not that fair either. Additionally, arriving by train is an alternative option, considering the Czech railways function flawlessly. Upon arrival, the hotel will greet you with a spacious garage. The old city centre is a ten-minute walk from the hotel.
COLD STARTER - Architecture and aesthetics
The hotel architecure is neomodernistic. The external facade features elegant coffee shades that intertwine with metal and wooden covering. The exterior appears utmost convincing and proportionate as a whole. In combination with the fascinating horticultural layout, the hotel is fresh and appealing. The lobby is highly functional, manageable and, at the same time, unpretentious. There are several open spaces in touch with the exterior, such as the breakfast area. The halls are characterised by intriguing lounge chairs that are in contrast with the subtle walls. Lighting and signage are outstanding.
WARM ENTRÉE - The staff and the culinary experience
The hotel staff is professional and, at the same time, reserved. Nonetheless, they are always there when you need them. Sal de Mar Restaurant’s service and staff were above average, not to mention the satisfying international cuisine. Albeit they need to sort a few details on their way to perfection, the team is undisputedly on the right track. The selection of local dishes is rather impressive. The breakfast stood out due to the presentation and selection of dishes. Altogether, the experience is pleasant, not least because the staff is always at hand, making sure everything is textbook. The hotel bar serving proper espressos and much more is also praise-worthy.
MAIN COURSE – The meetings offering at the hotel
Hotel rooms
The hotel rooms are furnished in a combination of dark furniture, wooden flooring and bright pastel walls. After a decade, the furniture is still well-preserved. The spacious work desk is one that a guest would want in most hotels. The overall spaciousness is above-standard and contributes to the general pleasing stay. In like manner, the bathroom appears impressive and has no drawbacks, though in a decade, trends do change, and some pieces are not the latest fad. However, the room is altogether compact, and its showpiece is an excellent bed.
Meetings centre
The congress centre is among the biggest in the city and can be dubbed as a pure-bred hotel congress centre. It boasts 12 multifunctional halls, and the biggest one, Europa, can host up to 952 guests. The hall is well thought out and features a high ceiling, enabling even more demanding projects to take place. A great advantage is also the separate entrance and spacious parking. Lest we forget the vast foyer hall that is ideal for catering or accompanying exhibitions. Favoured among meeting planners, the hall can capacitate up to 450 attendees in a banquet setting.
DESSERT – The extras
The hotel is, literally, in the midst of greenery. If you are a fan of running or recreation in nature, you will hardly find a better hotel in this part of Olomouc. Alternatively, you can sit and enjoy the tranquillity of the magical garden.
FLOP – NEGATIVE SURPRISES
The hotel hardly has any imperfections. A meticulous remark goes to the volume of the air conditioning, which nonetheless did not disturb our sleep.
TOP – POSITIVE SURPRISES
The congress centre is well-designed and functions as a true congress centre with a separate entrance and offers the possibility of branding and privatisation. The outstanding architecture is an additional advantage for your event.
FINAL IMPRESSION AND CREDIBILITY
The hotel is remarkably great, and more importantly, of incredible value to event organisers. We have no doubt that upon its opening in Olomouc, the hotel shook the local scene. It is evident that the Spaniards are masters in the congress business and understand the needs of congress organisers. Consequently, the hotel is often fully booked, and it seems the formula behind building a congress hotel works flawlessly in the Czech Republic. We already knew that Spaniards had the know-how to ensure guests felt welcome and comfortable while offering them aesthetic highlights. What impressed us more was the staff and their professionalism, including their sense of orderliness and cleanliness. All in all, NH Collection Olomouc Congress is a fantastic congress hotel.
