The international experiential marketing show BOE INTERNATIONAL 2022 will now not go ahead in January. Following close consultation with the advisory board and with associations and players in the event industry, Messe Dortmund and its partners have decided not to press ahead with the show planned for 19 and 20 January 2022 due to current trends in the COVID pandemic. The next BOE INTERNATIONAL will be held in Dortmund on 11 and 12 January 2023. In a positive vein, however, Messe Dortmund has announced a flagship project for the event industry in the 2nd quarter of 2022.
After re-commencing trade shows in September, Messe Dortmund has put a lot of effort into making things happen as we approach 2022. “The measures put in place for this year’s autumn trade shows and other events have been very well received. They were implemented faithfully by exhibitors and visitors, and have helped keep things going smoothly and safely for everyone,” said Sabine Loos, Managing Director of the Westfalenhallen Group of Companies. “However, given the way the pandemic is currently moving, and in view of the new virus variant and high case numbers, we’re facing factors which, for us as a trade show venue, are outside our direct control when it comes to ensuring a sufficient level of planning certainty. In close consultation with our partners and with the advisory board, and on the advice of associations and exhibitors in the event industry, Messe Dortmund has decided not to press ahead with the show planned for 2022,” the venue boss added.
For many years, BOE INTERNATIONAL in Dortmund has got each year off to a flying start for the event industry, making this cancellation of the 2022 event a difficult decision, albeit one that takes proper account of current developments and the concerns of exhibitors. “There was a sizeable fear here that travel restrictions may potentially water down the commercial success of the show for exhibitors in January. Currently, for example, we’re seeing business trips becoming near-impossible. Accordingly, we’ve taken the concerns of exhibitors into account in our case-specific assessment and have decided, with regret, to cancel BOE 2022, for which preparations had been in full swing for some months,” emphasised Sabine Loos.
The next BOE INTERNATIONAL will be held in Dortmund on 11 and 12 January 2023. This offers maximum planning certainty for everyone involved. Before then, another flagship project for exhibitors and trade visitors to BOE is planned to take place during the run-up to the event. Messe Dortmund has already announced a physical event on the premises in Q2 2022. In fact, the date has already been set, with 4 and 5 May chosen as the dates for an on-site get-together for the industry featuring an exciting congress format offering delegates an interesting programme of events in Dortmund. In recent months, Messe Dortmund has already launched two new successful formats: ‘RoadToBOE’ and the ‘BOE connect’ online platform.
